ยกHola a todos!
We are looking forward to the new term of Spanish classes starting this week (9th & 10th September). We have given each group the name of a Spanish speaking country and throughout the year we will be basing consolidation and recap activities on your country! You will see from the timetable below that some of our groups will be returning to the classrooms at Bath Academy and New Oriel Hall in September, others will remain online to keep them accessible to those enrolled.

Enrichment weeks: We will break from our usual curriculum on 28th & 29th October for some more fantastic enrichment lessons with Lorena Pino, our guest Venezuelan teacher/film expert. More information on the format of these special classes coming soon!
Returning to the classroom: For groups that will return to in-person lessons please familiarise yourself with our new โrulesโ and the procedures that we are putting in place to make our classes as Covid-safe as possible. This has been included in your welcome email as a separate PDF and available in the Student Information area of the website forum.
Online groups meeting links: Meeting links will be circulated in the welcome email and also available in the group area of the website forum. We will use the same meeting link and password for the first 7 weeks of the term, then this will be changed for added security for our enrichment weeks at half term.
Whats new in the website learning forum: You will notice that the Forum has had a facelift and groups re-named with the countries, there is also a little post in each group area linking to some resources about the county your group has been named after. There is also a new area โPara Verโ featuring recommended films, newscasts and TV series in Spanish.

Special measures
Group sizes are limited to recommended the capacities for each teaching space with desks set out in the best layout for each space to allow for maximum distancing between students/teacher.
Should a student or teacher develop symptoms of Covid-19 during a lesson, they will be sent home to follow the 'test, track and trace processโ. Other members fo the group will also be sent home immediately (advised to sanitise their hands and observe distancing on exiting) and the lesson time 'made up for' at a later date. Should symptoms be serious each venue has a policy and space for isolating and caring for those that are not well enough to go home alone.
Your class may have to go back online at short notice if there is another lockdown, guidelines for group activities are changed, if one of our venues if forced to close over safety concerns, or if your teacher is having to isolate and an alternative teacher cannot be found at short notice. We will email you and text message group members should this happen and share meeting links in the class areas of the Todo el Mundo forum.
Coming to class
If you or any member of your household are experiencing any of the symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, continuous cough, loss of taster or smell) please do not attend class.*
If you have recently returned from abroad, we request that you follow government guidance on quarantining for you and your household and do not attend class. *
Wait outside the venue at a safe distance from others until your teacher let you in to the building a few minutes before the start time of your class, we request you do not arrive too early. If you arrive late please telephone your teacher to let you in.
Week 1: Katherine 07892685611, subsequent weeks Andrea: 07522133249
There will staggered entry and departure of students so please try to be on time for your class and leave promptly at the end of the lesson
Once you enter the building please follow any one-way systems and adhere to social distancing in communal areas
Wear a face covering in communal areas, face coverings can be worn in the classroom if you prefer, but as yet this is not mandatory
Your teacher will wear a mask and/or face shield and check your temperature with an infrared thermometer before you enter the classroom. Those with temperatures of 37.5 degrees Celsius or above will be sent home immediately and advised to call 111 to arrange testing.
*Should you miss your class due to isolation or quarantine we will send you a summary of learning or access to an alternative online class or class recording.
When in class
Sanitise or wash your hands on arrival in the building or classroom. We will clean frequently touched surfaces in the classroom before and after each group.
Demonstrate good respiratory hygiene with 'catch it, bin it, kill it' and to wash or sanitise hands after coughing, sneezing or blowing their nose. Bins will be provided for safe disposal of used tissues.
Bring your own course book, notepad and stationary to class each week. We recommend you bring your own refreshments, tissues and anything else you require for the lesson and do not share these with other students.
Windows and doors shall be kept open (except fire doors) to improve ventilation, the venues are fully heated however we advise you wear warm clothing for your own comfort
Please do not rearrange furniture or swap seats during the lesson, classrooms will be arranged to best accommodate distancing and learning.
Toilet facilities are available for students at all venues. Please follow the guidance displayed when using these facilities.
Please familiarise yourself with the venues emergency exits and help us to keep floors clear of bags, coats and other hazards during class.
If you have an underlying medical condition that will affect your learning experience, or that emergency services should be made aware of should you fall ill, please tell your teacher, this information will be held in confidence in accordance with our Data policy
We look forward to seeing you soon!
