Spanish class levels
Have you learnt Spanish before and looking to take up some lessons to improve?
We use the CEFR levels system to reference our courses. This is the official EU system that defines the different levels of language proficiency. It has six levels ranging from A1 beginner to C2 advanced.
So how can you find out your level of fluency to pick the right course for you?

Beginner
If you are starting to learn Spanish from scratch, we recommend you join one of our beginner A1 level group classes during the first term of a new course, even if you have been learning independently (eg using Duo Lingo), to build solid foundations for progress.
Do you have 'rusty GCSE spanish'? Have you completed beginner courses in the past joining an established A1 group will give you plenty of conversation practise, refresh basic grammar and ensure you progress with strong foundations.
A1 is the beginner level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Our classes are a mix of conversation, listening, reading and writing. For more information visit the our courses section.
Intermediate
A2-B1 level spanish classes are for students who have a good understanding of the basics of the language and need to build on their skills.
If you have recently completed beginner courses or taken A-Level in the past then a B1 level spanish class will improve your conversation skills and delve further into grammar.
You will be able to understand spanish when spoken at a slow to moderate pace, have a sound understanding of basic grammar and be able to independently respond to questions in short phrases.
A2-B1 are the beginner to intermediate level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1-C2). Our classes are a mix of conversation, listening, reading and writing. For more information visit the our courses section.
Advanced
The CEFR B2 level course progresses students through more advanced level materials with plenty of conversation practice in class. To join a B2 group you will need to have solid foundation having covered the majority of learning and gramatical concepts from levels A1-B1.
You will understand the majority of long factual and literary texts, be able to express yourself fairly fluently and relatively spontaneously (verbally and in writing). Grupo Venezuela are one of our longest established groups with a great social atmosphere.
B2 is the intermediate-advanced level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1-C2). Our classes are a mix of conversation, listening, reading and writing. For more information visit the our courses section.
