Intermediate Spanish Classes in Bath
Develop your Spanish beyond beginner level with friendly, small-group conversational classes for adults in Bath.

Our Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 courses are for learners who already have a foundation in Spanish and want to become more confident using the language in real-life conversation.
Across these levels, you will build fluency with past and future tenses, develop wider vocabulary and practise speaking more naturally in a supportive group.

These classes may suit you if you have previously completed an Beginner (A1) Spanish course, studied Spanish at GCSE or A-Level some time ago, or learnt Spanish through classes, travel or self-study and now want a more structured route forward.

Which intermediate level is right for me?
Intermediate 1 is usually suitable if you have completed a good beginner or A1-level Spanish course, have a past GCSE in Spanish, or can already manage simple conversations but want more confidence with speaking, listening and grammar.
At this level, you will strengthen everyday conversation and begin using past tenses more confidently to talk about experiences, memories, people, routines, food, health, homes, social situations and changes over time.

Intermediate 2 is usually suitable if you have completed other lower-intermediate (A2) level courses, have a stronger GCSE background, studied A-Level Spanish some time ago, or can already understand and respond in familiar situations.
At this level, you will work towards a more independent use of Spanish, including past and future tenses, opinions, storytelling, advice, complaints, messages, travel anecdotes, relationships, social issues and more abstract conversation.

How our intermediate course pathways work
Our intermediate programme is divided into carefully structured modules, so students can build their Spanish gradually rather than rush through the level.

Intermediate 1 covers the core A2 level and is divided into five modules. Intermediate 2 covers the core B1 level and is divided into six modules. Each module usually takes two to three terms to complete, depending on the group, allowing plenty of time for revision, conversation practice and consolidation.

By the end of Intermediate 2, students will have covered a very comprehensive range of grammar, vocabulary and communication skills, taking them towards the standard expected around A-Level Spanish. After Intermediate 2, students usually continue towards our Advanced Spanish classes.
