Advanced Spanish classes in Bath

Develop your Spanish at B2 level with friendly, conversational advanced classes for adults in Bath.

Our Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 groups are for confident Spanish learners who want to improve fluency, accuracy, listening confidence and natural conversation.

These classes give students the opportunity to discuss richer topics, consolidate advanced grammar and keep building vocabulary in a supportive group.

These levels may suit you if you have completed a strong Intermediate 2 or B1-level course, studied Spanish to A-Level standard in the past, lived in a Spanish-speaking country, or have developed your Spanish through regular self-study and conversation.

Which Advanced level is right for me?

Advanced 1 is usually suitable if you have completed a B1-level Spanish course, have a strong A-Level background, or can already take part in everyday Spanish conversation but want to speak with more accuracy, range and confidence.

At this level, you will work through a comprehensive B2 programme, developing your ability to discuss news, opinions, social issues, identity, places, conditions, communication, storytelling, work, education and life experience.

Advanced 2 is for students who have already completed a substantial B2 course and want to continue consolidating at advanced level. This group is not currently a C1 course. The focus is on maintaining and improving fluency, correcting recurring errors, strengthening listening and speaking confidence, and revisiting advanced grammar through conversation.

Our Advanced levels

Our Advanced course pathway

Our Advanced 1 programme covers the core B2 level and is divided into several carefully structured modules. These modules draw on two B2 course books and are designed to help students develop both accuracy and fluency over time.

Each module usually takes two to three terms to complete, depending on the group. This gives students time for conversation practice, revision, grammar consolidation, listening work and deeper discussion rather than rushing through the content.

After Advanced 1, students may continue into Advanced 2. Our first Advanced 2 group starts in September and will remain at B2/B2+ level rather than moving straight to C1. This gives students the chance to consolidate, become more fluent and use advanced Spanish with greater confidence.

Before this level: Intermediate 2

For students developing B1 Spanish, including past and future tenses, opinions, storytelling, advice, travel anecdotes, relationships and more independent conversation.

Advanced 1

For confident learners working through a comprehensive B2 programme with advanced grammar, wider vocabulary, richer listening and more sustained conversation.

Advanced 2

For students who have completed substantial B2 study and want to consolidate fluency, accuracy, listening confidence and natural conversation before moving towards higher-level Spanish.

What you’ll learn in Advanced 1-2

1.1c Maneras de vivir: People, Places & Identity Talk about lifestyles, identity, relationships, personality and different ways of living. Develop richer descriptions and more nuanced opinions about people and society.

1.1d Lugares con encanto: Cities, Feelings & Places with Character Describe cities, neighbourhoods and places with atmosphere. Practise talking about first impressions, memories, feelings, beliefs and what makes a place special.

1.2b Así pasó: Stories, Cities & Environmental Futures Develop storytelling and discussion through city histories, local legends, environmental issues and social change. Practise linking events and discussing future consequences.

1.2c Vivir para trabajar: Work, Education & What Might Have Been Explore work, education, biographies, skills, regrets and alternative past outcomes. Practise talking about consequences, missed opportunities and what might have happened differently.

Advanced 2: Consolidation, fluency & confidence

Our first Advanced 2 group starts in September. This group is designed for students who have completed a substantial Advanced 1 / B2 course and want to continue developing their Spanish without rushing into a formal C1 programme. The focus will be on consolidating advanced grammar, correcting recurring errors, developing more natural speaking and listening skills, and building confidence in longer conversations. The tutor will provide a learning plan for the term, with topics and materials chosen to support the group’s needs. This is a good option for students who want regular advanced Spanish practice, more fluency and greater accuracy before moving towards higher-level study.

Not sure whether Advanced 1 or Advanced 2 is right for you?

Advanced levels can be difficult to judge, especially if you have learnt Spanish through a mixture of classes, travel, self-study, work or previous exams.

The level test helps us understand your grammar and vocabulary, while a trial class helps us check your speaking, listening and confidence in a group setting.

Please contact us directly if you are unsure. We can advise whether Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Intermediate 2 or private tuition would be the best fit.
