Legitimate interests – we have a legitimate interest in collecting and using personal information about our students (and parents or carers where applicable) in order to operate our language school safely, efficiently and to a high educational standard.

How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting, safeguarding and reporting requirements.
Our typical retention periods are:
Student enrolment records, assessments, attendance records and class registers -Up to 6 years after a student’s last attendance.
Safeguarding records - Up to 6 years after the student’s last attendance, unless a longer period is required due to the nature of the concern.
Medical and SEN information - For the duration of enrolment and up to 6 years afterwards, unless safeguarding requires longer retention.
Financial records - At least 6 years in line with UK tax and accounting requirements.
Tutor and contractor information
We collect and process personal information about self-employed tutors and contractors for recruitment, safeguarding, contractual and payment purposes. We retain tutor information for up to 6 years after the end of their engagement in line with legal, safeguarding and accounting requirements.

Marketing and consent records

Photographs and videos
Where we have consent, we may retain images for promotional and archival purposes. We review images periodically and aim to use recent material. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, although it may not always be possible to remove images already published in printed materials or historic publications.
